The man who pleaded guilty last July to planning to extort more than one million dollars from Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes was found dead in his home last week. He threatened to release the unauthorized photos if the 1.2-1.3 million dollars wasn’t doled out.
According to the Associated Press, David Hans Schmidt was under house arrest and was due for an October 11th federal court hearing. Authorities checked on him when his foot tracker showed no movement and he hadn’t checked in. He had apparently committed suicide.
He was facing just two years in prison, but is that enough to warrant taking your own life? And that’s all there is to this story?
