Having not been to a cinema for months due to the fact that I live in a college town, chock full of incessant yappers, and “going to the movies” - while once a pleasurable experience - now ranks with eyebrow waxing and oven cleaning, I am often forced to wait for release on DVD or Showtime et. al.
I cannot wait to see “No Country for Old Men” and “Atonement” - both recently released on DVD. I love the Coen brothers, and if everything I have heard holds true, then NCFOM ought to rank up there with “Fargo“ as an exceptional Coen classic. While not typically a fan of either period pieces or Keira Knightley, the Oscar buzz surrounding “Atonement” has piqued my interest as well.
“The Bee Movie” has gotten rave reviews from the guys at my local Hollywood Video, ex-husband, and kids; yet I am currently atop the proverbial fence at this time, not really wishing to listen to Jerry Seinfeld’s monotonous droning for an hour and a half.
Among the I-have-no-desire-to-watch-but-my-action-film-fan-husband-does new DVD releases includes “Hitman.” I have a feeling if I want to rent “Atonement“, I’ll have to give in and endeavor to watch “Hitman“ with him. You know, keep the peace and all that.
Similarly, as I am anticipating catching the new Disney soon-to-be-classic “Enchanted“, I, undoubtedly, will have to pair it with the it-sounds-a-bit-intriguing “I Am Legend.” And yes, hubby is excited about that one.
Any comments from you, dear readers, about any of these films would be greatly appreciated and always encouraged.

My kids love Bee Movie, but Seinfeld’s voice will certainly drive you crazy after sitting through it for the tenth time.
Hitman was pretty bad, but your husband will like it because Olga Kurylenko gets naked and looks absolutely fantastic doing so.
I’ve been going back and forth about whether I want to see I Am Legend. On the one hand I really like Will Smith, and on the other hand he’s done some terrible films. And on the one hand it’s a remake (or so I’ve heard) of a Vincent Price film called “The Last Man On Earth”. And on the other hand the Vincent Price film wasn’t that great. And on the one hand it’s based on a book by Richard Matheson, who wrote some of the best Twilight Zone episodes. And on the other hand there are four fingers and a thumb. It also sounds a lot like 28 Days Later, which I really didn’t enjoy all that much either, in spite of having very high expectations for it.
