Perhaps one of the WORST movies EVER

Wanted” - starring Angelina Jolie, James McAvoy, and Morgan Freeman, directed by Timur Bekmambetov.

Why, Morgan, why?  I love Morgan Freeman, but his talent was truly wasted in this too-long, riduculous adaptation of yet another graphic novel (er comic book).  Of course, Mr._Movie_Maven was high on this film, so I reluctantly sat by him, attempting to watch it until my brain cells began to slowly drip from my nose, forcing me to play solitaire on my computer as I struggled to feign attention through the rest of the drivel being played out on my television.

The plot is utterly ridiculous, even for a comic book.  The repeated torture scenes were redundant.  Now, I like torture as much as the next person, but torture with meaning.  Like “Hostel” and “Hostel II” torture.  Hahaha.  The acting was atrocious because, quite simply, I cannot stand Jolie.  She was tolerable-to-good in “Gia” and “Girl, Interrupted“, but since her visage has been splattered on every tabloid for the past 3 years, I am truly sick to death of her.  (Although if she were cast as a victim in “Hostel III”, I would watch with relish.)

The only redeeming quality of this film was the unique cinematographic special effects, particularly the slow motion effects, so kudos for that.

When compared to “Death Race“, which Mr._Movie_Maven had to watch as well (in which Joan Allen’s talent was also wasted, not to mention the fact that she looked like she had some funky plastic surgery which morphed her into an older Julia Stiles), let me lead the Oscar committee for the latter.  At least “Death Race” had a plot and some quasi-decent acting.  I love Jason Statham’s voice.
