Since my mom hates these kinds of films, and my stepdad and I love them (can’t wait for “X-Men Origin: Wolverine“), my mom is making me write this blog.
So, the movie was cool. I’ve never red the graphic novel, so I can’t tell you how accurate the movie was but I really liked it. The special effects were really cool and the sound editing was awesome. I have to say I jumped a few times.
The plot was interesting, as were the characters. My favorite character was Rorschach (Jackie Earle Haley) because of, particularly, the prison scene and his craziness. I couldn’t stand Night Owl II (because he was played by Patrick Wilson who was Raoul in my all-time favorite movie “The Phantom of the Opera” and I can’t stand him or his girlie hair and sideburns that aren’t even attached to his hairline.)
The prison scene was the best due to its extreme violent nature and gore, but I won’t give anything away. Just email my mom if you want to know and she can ask me.
Director Zack Snyder also directed “300” which stars Gerard Butler (who was the Phantom of the Opera (Erik) and who Movie_Maven thinks is HOT and I must agree, but looks aren’t everything, you know.) Apparently, according to imdb.com, Snyder is directing a sequel to “300” (currently named “Untitled 300 Sequel” - how original, huh?) due out in 2010 as well as making “The Illustrated Man“, a cool Ray Bradbury book, also due out in 2010.
The movie was pretty long but well worth it!

Hopefully the movie will inspire you to read the graphic novel. There are a few minor changes, particularly at the end, but mostly it stays faithful to the original. It was really interesting reading a review by someone who hasn’t read the novel, though. Even though I read it when I was sixteen, I went into the movie wishing I’d never read it, just so I wouldn’t know what was coming.
And yeah, Rorschach rocks. Considering how crazy he is, I was just glad he was one of the GOOD guys. Sort of.
I asked her if she wanted to read the graphic novel but she’s really not interested in them as much as she is watching senseless violence on the big screen. Glad you are a fan though. Totally NOT my type of film or reading material whatsoever however.
