Since I’m having surgery next week, Mr_Movie_Maven and I continued our week o’movies with “Terminator Salvation” - the 4th installment in the franchise. (According to imdb.com, “Terminator 5” is in the works already with McG (”We are Marshall” and “Charlie’s Angels - Full Throttle“) slated to direct again. (Can you say overkill???)

Star Trek (2009) was one of the most fun movies I’ve seen in a long, long time. The actors were impeccably cast, the dialogue was fantastic and hilarious, the special effects were awesome, and the music just brought the whole package together. He did it again. Mr_Movie_Maven bribed me to see the film with him (Movie_Maven_Jr already saw it). After all, I did hear that Hugh Jackman was, shall we say, ’scantily clad’, during part of it and I am a big fan of his anyway.
For our weekly date, Mr_Movie_Maven and I went to see “State of Play” (2009) with Russell Crowe, Rachel MacAdams (I swear, I didn’t even recognize her!), Ben Affleck, Robin Wright-Penn and Helen Mirren and directed by Kevin MacDonald.
This had to be one of the worst “based on a true story” haunted/possessed house films I have ever seen. Most of the scary “jump” parts (which I usually love in horror films) were given away in the trailer and I was, subsequently, disappointed with the film. Since my mom hates these kinds of films, and my stepdad and I love them (can’t wait for “X-Men Origin: Wolverine“), my mom is making me write this blog.
Yesterday, Mr_Movie_Maven bribed me with sushi for dinner to go see “Fast & Furious” with him. I am not a fan of these type of movies AT ALL; however, ever since he saw the preview all he has talked about was the “car in the movie.” Remember, he is a true redneck cowboy, so cars [...]
So, Mr_Movie_Maven and I just returned from seeing “Knowing” and I have to say, it was, um, interesting. It’s difficult to review this film without giving away a lot, so I will offer a long pause before I pounce on all the spoilers and problems I found. |
